Hi there! I’m Kalyn, an actor from rural Wisconsin, where I first discovered my love for theatre. I got my big break at 10 years old when I auditioned for a local production of The Wizard of Oz. Despite shedding some tears due to stage fright, I was thrilled to be cast! My performance as a munchkin was deeply riveting!
In all seriousness, I was hooked on the power of performance. From my munchkin days to my most recent credit at my university, playing Morgan in Godspell, I’ve been passionate about bringing stories to life. Working on projects such as Carrie and Heathers have taught me that being considered "soft" is a virtue and kindness and compassion should never be spared. 9 to 5 and Measure for Measure, even though they were written nearly 400 years apart, show the oppressive cultures that women have to overcome in male-dominated settings and the importance of female solidarity and resilience. The themes of a tight-knit community, love, and forgiveness in Hair, Godspell, Into the Woods, and even The Spongebob Musical highlight the significance of hope and tenacity in the face of adversity.
To me, theatre is about exploring the depths of the human condition, from every high to every low, from every triumph to every shame. Theatre, in all its beautiful forms, has a unique ability to evoke raw emotions, ignite profound empathy, ultimately creating a deeper understanding and appreciation of
the human experience.
